Lesson: Reading Comprehension Basic - 18

The Pay off

And that's the passage! Getting through it the right way takes a little practice, but using the strategies presented thus far will put you on the road to developing a solid and consistent methodology.

The purpose of employing the CAT attack on the Reading Comp passage is, of course, to rack up points on the questions. Let's get to know those a little better. First off, it's important for you to recognize that questions and answer choices follow patterns:

  • Question sets consist of a mix of easy, medium, and more difficult questions.
  • They also consist of a variety of question types - the most common of which are Global, Inference, and Explicit Text.
  • There is always one, and only one, correct answer to every question, and the four wrong choices are categorically wrong for at least one reason.
  • The wrong choices are generally written to formula, and fall into a few recognizable and consistent types, which will be discussed at greater length soon.

Let's delve into these question-specific issues now.
