The LUMS School of Science and Engineering (SSE), initiated in 2008, is the first private research school for science and engineering in Pakistan.
SSE offers a four year undergraduate program leading to a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics and Physics. In addition, SSE offers graduate degrees in Computer Engineering, Computer Science (MS and PhD) and Mathematics (PhD). In the near future SSE also plans to start graduate programs in other fields.

LUMS SSE Admission Test Scheduling

The SSE Admission Test is advertised in the leading national dailies and website in the months of November for the fall semester because it has only one intake per year. The SSE Admission Test will be held on the month of February. Prospective students can obtain the application packages from the University and submit them before the closing date.So You must plan to start preparing LUMS SSE Admission test early in December.

LUMS SSE Admission Procedure

The admission procedure is as follows: Submit the prescribed form (duly completed) along with supporting documents on or before the notified closing date.

Admissions will be based on:

  1. Academic Background
  2. Performance in the Admission Test(SSE)
  3. Submission of a completed application form (and all required supporting documents)
  4. Interview (if called)

Note:All admission decisions are taken by the Undergraduate Admissions Committee and are final.

Academic Background

Applicants who have successfully completed FSc/ICS/A’ Levels/High School Diploma or International Baccalaureate are eligible to apply for admission if they fulfill one of the following academic qualifications:

  • 60% marks or above in matric and 65% marks or above FSc/ICS
  • O’ Levels results (in at least 6 subjects) and 2 Bs and 1 C grade in A’ Levels in at least 3 principal 1 subjects such that there should be no more than 1 C grade and no grade less than a C.

The principal subjects are Biology, Chemistry, Computing, Mathematics, Further Mathematics and Physics. Any deviations from this list would be examined on a case to case basis and the decision of the Admissions Committee would be final. No credit will be given for General Paper.

  • American High School Diploma (80% or above or Grade point average of B or above)
  • International Baccalaureate (at least 30 out of 45 points)
  • Combination of the above
  • Any other equivalent qualification (minimum acceptable scores will be determined by the Admissions Committee)

Applicants who have not taken the final exams of their FSc/ICS/A’ Levels (in three principal subjects listed in subsection I-a)/High School Diploma or IB as yet and are expecting their final results by August 2012 will be given a conditional offer. Applicants must fulfill one of the following academic qualifications to be considered for a conditional offer:

  • Successful completion of Matric (with at least 60% marks) and FSc/ICS 1st year (65% marks or above)
  • O’ Levels results (in at least six subjects)
  • American High School Diploma (9th, 10th, & 11th year) results with 80% marks or above or Grade point average of B or above
  • International Baccalaureate (first year) results (at least 30 out of 45 points)

Applicants who are made a conditional offer must subsequently meet one of the following conditions for admission to LUMS by August 2012:

  • Successful completion of FSc/ICS (with 65% marks or above)
  • A’ Levels in at least 3 principal subjects with at least 2 Bs and 1 C grade such that there should be no more than 1 C grade and no grade less than a C. The principal subjects are Biology, Chemistry, Computing, Mathematics, Further Mathematics and Physics. Any deviations from this list would be examined on a case to case basis and the decision of the Admissions Committee would be final. No credit will be given for General Paper.
  • American High School Diploma (minimum required grades for the 12th year will be decided by the Admissions Committee)
  • International Baccalaureate (at least 30 out of 45 points)

Registration for SSE Admission Test

The LUMS Admission Test Registration will be done through the LUMS online application system.
For LUMS SSE online Application Click here Applicants must successfully submit their complete application and supporting documents on or before the last date of registration.Test Registration Cards and instructions will be posted to the applicant's secure online application account, and an email message will alert applicants that the Test Registration Card has been posted. Applicants are required to download and print their Test Registration card and attendance slip. Candidates without a Test Registration Card will NOT be allowed to take the test. The exact locations, test timings, and other information will be communicated to applicants through the Test Registration Card and LUMS website i.e. www.lums.edu.pk.

Registration fee for SSE Admission Test

Applications without correct photograph or appropriate fee (as specified in the online application form) will not be processed for the registration of the test.

  • The application processing fee of Rs 4,000* (for Pakistani Residents only)
  • The application processing fee of US $100 (for Foreign/overseas residents only)
  • The SSE Admission Test registration fee of Rs 1,500* (if applying to SSE)

Test and Interview

Applicants residing outside Pakistan and currently studying or having completed their last year o f schooling abroad are required to submit official results of the SAT Reasoning Test (SAT I) and at least 3 of the 4 SAT II subjects listed below:

  1. Biology-M
  2. Chemistry
  3. Mathematics II-C
  4. Physics

SAT scores must be reported to LUMS officially from the testing agency. The college code for reporting SAT scores to LUMS is 0513.
