Universities in Khairpur

Khairpur city is capital of the Khairpur District in Sindh It is the 12th largest city in Sindh. It was the capital of the former princely state of Khairpur. The great Sufi Sachal Sarmast came from this city. The city is famous for its dates. Its famous cities are Ranipur, Gambat, Kot Diji and Sobhodero. There is a big university named Shah Abdul Latif University in this city.
It has some fine historic buildings notably the Faiz Mahal.
Its population is about 200,000. 80% of people involved in agriculture directly or indirectly, cultivation depends upon river Indus by several canals, and a good part of land is rain fed.
