Directions: Each sentence below has one or two blanks, each blank indicating that something has been omitted. Beneath the sentence are five lettered words or sets of words. Choose the word or set of words for each blank that best fits the meaning of the sentence as a whole.</

  • Most Sentence Completions involve two blanks, not just one.
  • You’ll fill in most blanks with single words, but for some blanks your choices will include brief phrases.
  • ?The emphasis on vocabulary is not as strong with these question types as with Analogies and Antonyms.
  • Except for the easiest Sentence Completions, expect to encounter a best and a second-best choice.
  • The best choice will make for an excellent sentence that’s clear, effective, and correct in grammar, diction, and idiom.
