Nature of fear, love and respect

The nature of the fear mentioned above, however, should not be confused with the fear spread by a Frankenstein, a Dracula or a bad character who collects jagga tax at pistol point or a heartless, trigger happy cruel person who has little respect for human life. This fear, on the other hand, is born of love, the one that comes straight out the respect for our parents, the affectionate elders or at the higher level for the love of Almighty God. We are afraid lest they are displeased due to any act of our omission or commission and as result we are exposed to punishment by the seniors in our lifetime or by Allah in this life and in the hereafter. Love and respect unaccompanied by the fear of punishment generates weakness. In that state it becomes counter- productive. We get spoiled. We do what ever we feel like. But with the fear element as an ingredient of our love for them, we are careful not to make them unhappy by way of disobedience. The risk is we might lose their love, support, protection and guardianship. So we refrain from doing any thing wrong and try to behave.
