Preempt Mullah s war moves

The state of national integration that is already under attack by ethnic, regional, linguistic and economic factors has now been exposed to a new kind of threat. This is militant religion that is called Talibanization which aims at dominating the state through force of arms. As against this the civil society looks up to the Armed forces for protection. The two opposing forces are the pitched against each other blowing bugles of a bloody civil war. That needs preemptive action. The evil must be nipped in the bud. Policies of restraint and appeasement should be shunned. They only embolden mulla’s hordes. However, instead of using brute force they should be dealt with in accordance with a three pronged strategy as recommended in the closing part of this paper.

The madrassah, Mullah’s stronghold, must be brought under strict official scrutiny. This institution has been made to preach religious extremism and consequent terrorism. Now it has to be used to reverse the damage done by it in the past. Its syllabi should not only produce the so call scholars of religion but scholars of both the worlds of religion as well as man’s temporal life It should ensure that these seminaries project correct image of Islam and not the Islam of mulla’s personal prejudices, likes, dislikes and brainwaves. Moreover, the mullah should confine himself to the religious domain and raise his stature there as its research scholar. Politics is not his jurisdiction. If he tries to travel in two boats he will reach nowhere. His own field is highly specialized. An engineer, for example, does not venture into the profession of a doctor and vice versa. Even in the same profession a heart specialist would not try to run the clinic of an orthopedic surgeon. The mullah should also try to function within the parameters of his own profession.

It is entirely due to the instances of suicide bombing, killing of innocent civilians, violation of their human rights, other acts of violence, exploding mines to kill security men, destruction of infra structure to hit the economy and tourism, killing the foreign engineers, who have come here to help develop the economy of Pakistan, are the acts that have also slowed down peace process with India over Kashmir. All such people who indulge in subversive activities cannot be the friends of people of Pakistan. By no means they can be considered patriots.
