Rise of religious feudalism
Life in Pakistan is firmly gripped in the
stranglehold of feudalism which is un-Islamic and undemocratic by nature. That
is why it has not as yet and shall never permit the system to be blessed with these
two supreme values. Until now, the agents of feudalism were Jagirdars,
landlords, industrial lords, waderas, khans, chaudhries and sardars. The system
has now been joined by the most vicious, cruel and devilish variety called the
religious feudalism. This new creed is of extreme dangerous type because its
devotees would not hesitate to perform even the most heinous and ultra
despicable acts in the name of Islam. Conventional feudalism was responsible
for breaking up Pakistan in 1971 and now reinforced by this kind of criminal
brand, it is all set to tear apart the very fabric of the Pakistani society.
Historically the making of Pakistan suffers from a
fault-line that is religious in nature, even though it emerged in the name of
Islam. The Muslims of the subcontinent went all out for a separate homeland for
themselves and the coming generations. Unfortunately, this demand was opposed,
tooth and nail, by most of the major religious parties namely, Majlis-e-Ulamae
Hind, Majlis-e-Ahrar, Jamaat-e-Islami, Khaksar Movement etc. Nevertheless
Pakistan came into existence to the utter defeat of anti-Muslim designs of the
religious leaders, a bitter fact which they have not forgotten until this day.
Their anti-Pakistan prejudice persists manifesting itself in the form of
subversive activities against it. Those of the religious men who do not
physically take part in such criminal acts either wholeheartedly endorse them
or choose to remain silent extending their indirect support. Many of them who
openly criticize such anti-state, anti-social and anti-Islam activities, talk
in terms of ‘ifs’ and ‘buts’ instead of condemning them outright. While they
criticize them by word of mouth, their body language, however, speaks volumes
in their favour. The majority of our religious leaders, with the pious
exception of Jamiat-e-Ulamae Islam and their likes and honourable
Mushaikh-e-Azam, have absolutely no intellectual, spiritual. ideological,
emotional or sentimental love for Pakistan. As such they are least bothered
whether it lives or not. However, as self-styled custodians of the Faith they
consider their birth right to hold the reins of its power structure and run it
in accordance with their distorted, constricted and polluted concepts, all that
in the name of Islam.
