Answer Choice Elimination

Backsolving, one of our two 'backdoor' strategies, uses a question's answer choices to get to the correct answer. Elimination also takes advantage of the answer choices, but focuses on ruling out the wrong choices one by one. This is an excellent strategy to keep in mind — the answer choices are part of the question — and as such can provide useful information to us.

There are two scenarios in which elimination of the answer choices works especially well. They include:

  • Special Format Questions
  • Unlikely Answer Choices
