Four Lane Economic Corridor

The sea coast along Balochistan has great potential. The Balochistan jewel that had decorated the British Empire now adorns the federation of Pakistan. It is highly strategic in importance and rich in natural resources. But benefits from this potential can be gained only if overland routes are opened up and Gwadar port is linked with Central Asia through rail and road networks and energy infra-structures are brought direct from Kushka in Turkmenistan through Herat and Dalbandin. This will form Economic Corridor of Central Asia. Four separate sources of wealth and economic power— a gas pipeline, an oil pipeline, a rail link and a highway, coming from Central Asia, will pass through Balochistan and ensure outflow of oil, gas, cotton, wheat and other valuables to the rest of the world. They will bring in consumer and industrial goods for the development of Central Asia. In the bargain Balochistan will reap rich benefits in many different ways. Due to this four lane economic corridor Balochistan’s Gwadar port would be no less significant in strategic and economic importance than Panama Canal linking Atlantic and Pacific Ocean or Suez Canal linking Mediterranean with the Red Sea.
