The garment, sector industry provides highest value addition in the textile sector. This sector distributed in small, medium, and large-scale units, most of them, having 50 machines and below. This sector is attracting considerable investment in the organized sector and now many units are coming into production stream.

The “Textile Vision 2005” has great emphasis on this sector; the sub-sector is facing multi-dimensional problems like high value addition in competing countries and increased prices of years and cotton cloth or other inputs to the end user.

against all these odds, this sector has witnessed substantial growth in terms of quantity exported and the dollar value of exports. During 2008-09 exports reached up to US $ 919,222 million.

The installed capacity of Rotors during 2008-09 was 203 thousand while working capacity was only 124 thousands.
