About - Rettendon Primary School

Rettendon School was first opened in 1870. A mixed community school, set in extensive grounds and surrounded by Essex countryside. Yet the original school and schoolhouse still form the main part of the school today. As the school grew additional buildings were added, ensuring that modern facilities such as; swimming pool, ICT, outdoor spaces and a child-friendly kitchen are all easily accommodated. We teach infant children (aged five to seven) in classes that have a maximum number of 30 children as at the 1st September of any new year

Age 5 to 7November
Only one intake for pupils in the September of the academic year they become 5 years old.There is no guarantee of a place for children living in the priority admissions area other than for reception intake. All applications are managed by the Local Authority on the School’s behalf. Every year 18 children only admitted in to the first class and if the school is over subscribed children are admitted following the prescribed rules. In the event of over-subscription within the above criteria priority will be given to children living closest to the school . Exceptional medical circumstances may over ride the above.
