About - Colne Engaine Church of England Voluntary Aided Primary School

Colne Engaine Church of England (Aided) Primary School was founded in 1848 by the Church to provide an education for the children of the village "according to the principles and practices of the Church of England". The original school was erected at the corner of Station Road and Brook Street. In 1970 new premises in Green Farm Road were completed, and provided a hall, kitchen and three permanent classrooms. Many improvements and alterations have taken place in the ensuing years to provide more space, better facilities and to help the school cope with the demands of new technology.

A child has the right to a full time place at school from the September following their 4th birthday. Parents can request to defer admission until the child reaches compulsory school age in the school year, thus,the school will put on hold the defer entry and not offer and not offer it to another child. The parent would not, however, be able to defer entry beyond the beginning of the term after the child’s fifth birthday, nor beyond the academic year for which the original application was accepted. Morning session only is available for parents opting to take up a part time place until child reach compulsory school age . A waiting list for Reception places will be kept for two terms following the start of the Academic Year. Applicants will be ranked in the same order as published criteria
