About - Cann Hall Primary School

Cann Hall converted to Academy status on the 1st November 2012 and is supported by Notley Green Primary School in Braintree. The school is officially partnered with Notley Green Primary School who will continue with the high levels of professional support that are playing a significant role in ongoing school improvements. As an Academy we now have more control over the services we can buy to support the schools’ needs and development. We have more freedom in the direction we believe in to obtain the best possible outcomes for your children.

The Schools Planning and Admissions Department at Essex County Council allocate all intake of children wishing to join Cann Hall Primary School. The application process is in accordance with the co-ordinated scheme for primary admissions and involves completion of the Common Application Form. Cann Hall Primary School provides for the full-time admission of all children offered a place in the Reception year group from the September following their fourth birthday. Parents have the right to a full time place at the school from September. However, compulsory school age is not reached until the start of the term following their fifth birthday so parents can defer entry until later in the school year or until the child reaches compulsory school age in the school year. Where entry is deferred the school will hold the place for that child and not offer it to another child. Parent cannot be able to defer entry beyond the beginning of the term after the child’s fifth birthday, nor beyond the academic year for which the original application was accepted.
