Evaluate
each statement separately.
Statement (1) is insufficient. Knowing that there are more than 150 total
employees just isn't specific enough. For example, if there are 155 employees
then there are 155 x .6 = 93 female employees which is less than 100.
But, if there are 1000 total employees then there are 600 females, or
over 100. So, eliminate Choices (A) and (D).
Statement (2) is sufficient. The question stem tells you that 60% of
the employees are females. That means 40% of the employees are males.
Statement (2) tells you that:
Female employees - male employees = 74 employees, or 60% - 40% = 20%
which equals 74 employees. Since you know 20% of the total equals 74,
you could find the total number of employees, and then the total number
of female employees.
