Quaid-e-Azam died on ii Sep 48 i.e. just about a year after the establishment of Pakistan. Providence did not permit him to give it a constitution and form of government of his dreams. However, during the brief period that he lived, and before that he had spoken on the subject at different occasions and left the nation in no doubt about the kind of Constitution he had in his mind. He wished Pakistan to be an Islamic Democratic Welfare State. This is evident from his views expressed by him at different forums, from time to time.
