Arithmetic: How to find Multiple of Numbers
[Page 8 of 30]
Multiples
A multiple of a number is what you get when you multiply that number by some integer. For example:
Positive multiples of 12 are: 12, 24, 36, 48, 60, 72, and so on.
Never confuse the terms multiple and factor. Here's how to keep these terms straight:
There are a multitude of multiples.
There are a finite number of factors.
The least common multiple of two integers is the smallest integer that is a multiple of both. Least common multiples are useful for many things, for example converting fractions to common denominators.

To find the least common multiple, check out the multiples of the larger integer, in this case 24, until you find one that's also a multiple of the smaller integer, in this case 18.
24 is not a multiple of 18.
48 is not a multiple of 18.
72 = 18 × 4.
So, 72 is the least common multiple of 18 and 24.
