Introducing Factors, Multiples, And Divisibility
Factors are the positive integers that divide evenly into a given number. For example, 3 is a factor of 12. Because 3 divides 12 evenly. On standardized tests factors are sometimes called divisors.
Being able to list all the factors of a number — especially the prime factors — will give you an edge on test day.

The easiest way to come up with all of the factors of a number is by coming up with "factor pairs," starting with 1 and the number, then working your way up until the numbers start to repeat. Let's see how to do this.
List all of the factors of 30.
1 x 30 | Start with 1 and the number. |
2 x 15 | |
3 x 10 | Work your way up. |
5 x 6 | |
6 x 5 | Stop when the numbers repeat. |
All of the factors of 30 are {1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 10, 15, 30}.
