Introduction To Circles

First, let's review the terms we'll see used in circle problems.

A circle is defined as the set of all points that are the same distance from the center.

The radius is the distance from the center to any point on the circle.

The diameter is a straight line from one point on a circle to another that passes through the center of the circle. A circle's diameter is always twice the length of the circle's radius.

In the diagram above, Q is the midpoint, AQ, CQ, and BQ are all radii, and AQB is a diameter.

A circle is always named after its center. The circle above is Circle Q.
