Factor Tree

Factor Trees are useful for listing all of the prime factors of a given number.

To make a factor tree, start with any factor pair for a given number.

Keep dividing the factors until the only numbers remaining are prime numbers:

Start with any factor pair of your number.
Keep factoring your branches.
Stop when you're left with only primes.

The prime factors of 330 are 2, 3, 5 and 11.

Practice this until you're able to factor quickly and easily into primes.

Prime Numbers

The number which is divisible only by itself or 1 is a prime number. Example: 2, 3, 5, 7, 11, and 13 are some of the prime numbers.
