Democracy and communism

Pakistan is one of the leaders of that neutralist and non-aligned bloc of nations whose role is to reconcile the conflicting aims of democracy and communism. Pakistan has often proved to be a catalytic agent so far as the hostility between Russia and the Western democratic nations is concerned. Pakistan’s advocacy of non-violence and world peace has been consistent, continuous, and wholehearted at all forums. Pakistan has always offered her co-operation in the implementation of the decisions of the U.N.O. and has never shirked her obligations to that world body. Pakistani troops played a conspicuous role whenever required by the world body to prevent breaches of peace in any part of the world. Pakistan was one of the nations who always favoured China’s admission into the U.N.O.

In spite of such overwhelming evidence, individuals and nations are not wanting who have doubted Pakistan’s motives and intentions. India’s use of armed force against Pakistan to prevent the former China from occupying all Kashmir was cited at the time as an example of India’s hypocrisy in upholding the ideal of non-violence. It is true that India does not believe in peace and non-violence. Pakistan has on certain occasions got involved in armed conflicts India arid these conflicts could have developed into world-wide wars, but these conflicts were not of Pakistan seeking. Pakistan must always be ready to fight against aggression.

Her motto is what it should be: Peace with honors, and not at the cost of national self-respect.
