Burn Hall was established by the Mill Hill Fathers at Srinagar in 1943. After the partition of India in 1947, the missionaries moved to Pakistan, and with the support of Khyber Pakhtunkhawa government, they established a school, under the same name, in a hotel building in Abbottabad. In 1956, another branch of Burn Hall was established on Mansehra Road, which later came to be known as the senior Burn Hall. These institutions functioned under the Diocesan Board of Education, Rawalpindi. In January 1977, it was handed over the management of these institutions to the Pakistan Army and the Senior Burn Hall was renamed as Army Burn Hall College for Boys. Chief of the Army Staff is the Patron of the College and its administrative functioning is executed by a Board of Governors with Commander 10 Corps as its Chairman and Commandant Pakistan Military Academy as its Deputy Chairman. Over the years, Army Burn Hall College for Boys has emerged as reckonable feeder institution to Armed Forces, particularly the Pakistan Army.
