GMAT CAT Testing Implications

Early questions are important!

  • The difficulty of each question you are given is based on your score estimate at that point in the test.
  • Your score estimate at any point is based on your cumulative performance on all the questions you have answered up to that point.
  • Your ability estimate can change more rapidly at the start of the test than it can at the end of the test.
  • Your best strategy is to get as many early questions right as you can, so that you get into the hard questions. Hard questions carry more points than easier ones if answered correctly, and damage scores less if answered incorrectly.

What would you conclude from these facts about how you should pace yourself while taking the test?
