Sargodha Medical College (SMC) was established by the Government of Pakistan on the directions of the President of Islamic Republic of Pakistan in 2006. It is situated at Faisalabad road, 2.5
km away from Sargodha Faisalabad By-Pass. This is a constituent college of University of Sargodha. The Government of the Punjab, Health Department has declared the DHQ Hospital, Sargodha as Allied
Teaching Hospital for SMC situated in the center of the city. The college offers the degree programs in MBBS, MCPS, FCPS and DPT. The College is recognized by Pakistan Medical & Dental Council (PM&DC) Islamabad, accredited by College of Physicians & Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP), Karachi for MCPS and FCPS
degrees.

It is affiliated with University of Health Sciences, Lahore for conduct of examination and
award of MBBS degree. It is the first ever public sector medical college in the Punjab run
by a public sector university. Community Oriented Medical Education (COME) curriculum offered
by the college is in line as recommended by Pakistan Medical & Dental Council (PM&DC), Islamabad
and University of Health Sciences, Lahore. The construction of admin block, academic block and
two hostels on the site has been completed. Construction of allied buildings and residential
colony is in progress and expected to be completed within next 1 year.The results of annual
examinations of SMC students are excellent and acknowledged at the provincial and national
levels also.
The Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences has already approved the start of MSc,
MPhil and PhD courses in different Basic and Clinical disciplines. Moreover, short term clinical
diploma courses are also available under the Skilled Manpower Development Program. The admission
process in various disciplines in SMC are usually started from the month of August and completed
upto November each year.
