Arc Length

The arc length is the measure of the distance along the curved line making up the arc. It is longer than the straight line distance between its endpoints (which would be a chord)

If you know the radius of a circle and the measure of an angle, you can find the length of the arc that is formed by that angle. Let's see how

Let's find the length of minor arc XZ above.

The sector of Circle Y to which minor arc XZ corresponds is 60°. Since 60° is of the circle (a circle is 360°), the length of minor arc XZ is of the circle's circumference.

The circumference of Circle Y is . The length of minor arc XZ is of 6, or .
