About - Wickham Common Primary School

Wickham Common Primary School was opened by the Mayor of Beckenham on the 17th April 1937 with 401 pupils on roll. During the post war birth rate boom, the school gained an annexe in Glebe Way. The annexe had been built in 1944 as a nursery for children whose mothers were engaged in war work, but was never used for that purpose. The annexe closed on the 13th February 1986 and all classes transferred to the main site in Gates Green Road. At that time several classes were accommodated in huts. These huts were later demolished and in 2002 the school was provided with a spacious new addition to its original building.
