About - Bexley Grammar School

Founded in 1955, Bexley Grammar School was opened by Sir Edward Heath, the local Member of Parliament at the time, and after whom the Heath Building (completed in 2000) is named. Sir Edward attended the school's Golden Jubilee celebrations shortly before his death in 2005. The school became a specialist Language College in September 2002 and a specialist college in Science and Mathematics in 2008.The school continues to specialise in languages, science and mathematics.

Children who will start at secondary school can sit the Bexley selection tests when they are in Class 6 of primary school. Those deemed selective can be considered for a place at Bexley Grammar School.The grammar schools in the London Borough of Bexley are making some changes to the selection tests, as part of the Education Change program. Children attending primary schools in Bexley will no longer automatically sit the tests. Parents and carers must register online between 7th May and 14th July via the Bexley Borough website.
