Engineering universities in Pakistan

Conclusion is obviously clear, there are lot of opportunities for engineers in Pakistan. Similarly, universities offer high ranked courses for example; NUST - National University of Science and Technology, GIKI - Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Science and Technology, and UET - University of Engineering and Technology Lahore courses are recognized globally.

Foreign Students

A lot of students from Sri Lanka, Bangla Desh, Egypt, and from many other African countries prefer engineering courses from Pakistan. The reasons behind are the quality education and low cost as compared to the advanced country courses. A variety of degrees based on level and course contents are offered by Pakistani universities.

Bachelor Degree: BSc (Engg) or BS

Bachelor degree (BE, BS, BSc) in engineering is a popular degree not only in Pakistan but also in almost all countries. Many of students after passing matriculation (Grade 10) choose Pre Engineering in F.Sc as their ultimate choice. In past, the admission in engineering colleges was highly competitive. But now, as large number of engineering colleges and universities offer admission in variety of disciplines so to have admission in engineering colleges become some what easy.

Pre Requisite for Admission

Admission in high ranked public universities is still highly competitive. The merit in such universities remains above 75% aggregate where as other universities, specially private excluding some prestigious institutions, the merit remains well below 70% aggregate.

Entry Test

Normally all engineering institutions require an entrytest as a factor in their admission criteria. Two types of entry tests are prevailing.

Post Graduate Studies in Engineering MS, M. Phil. or Ph. D.

A student having teaching or research aptitude opt to move vertically to hold a post graduate degree in engineering. A Master of Engineering, abbreviated M.Eng., ME or M Eng or Master of Technology abbreviated M.Tech. or M Tech or Master of Science in Engineering abbreviated M.Sc. Eng., M.Sc.(Eng), M.Sc. Engg, MSc(Engg), etc.), can be either an academic or professional master's degree in the field of engineering.
A moderated number of engineers, in Pakistan, opt a Master Degree (MS) as compared to industry job.

GAT as Entry Level Requirement

HEC (Higher Education Commission of Pakistan) requires that every applicant for MS or MPhil Programs must qualify GAT - General. Similarly, GRE-General is the requirement for PhD.
