Rock Salt and Brine

Rock salt is a valuable mineral, used in manufacturing industries of Soda Ash, Acids, chemical and leather tanning, besides it is common used salt in human and animal diet. Another important use is in fish drying industry.

Pakistan has over 100 million rock salt deposits and possesses one of the largest rock salt deposits in the world. All the rock salt deposits in Pakistan occur in the Salt Range, and particularly at the base of the Salt Range escapement, from Junate to Marl Indus. The most important deposits are located north of Koh-I-Tuftan in the popularly called Government of Pakistan. Mines are in Khewra, Warcha, Kalabagh and Jatta.
