Production of Woollen Textile Industry

Today, Pakistan has more than 70 large, medium and small woollen Industrial units among these 16 are woollen mills which are producing woollen cloth, suiting, blankets and hosiery products, besides carpets are some of the other important products of the woollen textile industry.

In 1970, Pakistan had 48 thousand installed capacities of spindles, which become more than 103 thousand in 1982. Like Cotton textile, Punjab has lion’s share in installed capacity of woollen mills (26 woollen mills) and spindles (65 thousands). During 2008-09, Out of total production 3,445 million sq. meters blankets (657 thousand) and carpets (3.5 million sq. /m) and shawls were (13.353 million sq./m).
