Idioms: Try it Yourself

Task: Identify the correct preposition to complete the sentence in each of the following sentences.

1. Rajani is coming with me to pick __________ the food order that I phoned in.

out up

2. Kelly used to get angry __________ Peggy for always being late.

toward at

3. After several years she finally reconciled herself __________ her friend's behavior.

to with

The idiom is "reconciled ... to." Period. By the way, on a related note, there does exist in English a distinction between "compared with" and "compared to." Look it up; it's interesting. But because the distinction is so narrow, it is not likely to appear on your standardized test.
