In 2003, the Government of Punjab has established a unique, self financing Sheikh Zayed Medical College (SZMC) for undergraduate medical students and attached to Sheikh Zayed Hospital.

Sheikh Zayed Medical College Campus was established in the building of Sheikh Zayed Hospital which is now attached with college and started its working in Jan, 2005, where admissions of 2005 reported. Later, second year class was called from QAMC to SZMC in April, 2005. This set up is temporary for almost three years and new campus is proposed to be built at Mehmood Stadium, almost 20 acres area, adjacent to Sheikh Zayed Medical Complex. Construction work is likely to start in the near future. After completion of College building and provision of most modern equipments, SZMC will be comparable with any national or international teaching institution.
