After independence, it became essential to raise a strong Air force to play a pivotal role in the defiance of Pakistan. Responding to this imperative, the Pakistan Air force decided to establish “ Feeder schools” to groom future officers who, l besides being imparted high quality education, would be brought up in an environment conducive to inculcate in them qualities of character and leadership. In pursuance of this objective a public school at Sargodha was proposed, and approved by the then prime minister Liquate Ali khan. It started functioning as Royal PAF Public school from February, 1953. The intake was from class VII and the school was affiliated to the University of Cambridge, UK, for the senior Cambridge. In January, 1967 the school was upgraded from senior Cambridge to intermediate level and was renamed PAF School. The institution continued to feed PAF academy Risalpur with spirited young men, who now from the backbone of the PAF at various tiers of command and leadership. Sven of the alumni have risen to the rank of Air Marshal.
