Human Rights

Man is gregarious animal. He might be inferior to some other animals in respect of power, swiftness and agility but it is by his power of foresight, conscious or unconscious, that he is and has been superior to other animals. This foresight has greatly guided him to evolve system or an order which made him in the pre-historic ages to forgo some of his rights. After that whether he lived in group, clan or society, he knew only one thing: for his survival idiosyncrasies must remain subservient to the will of others. Thus all human rights were bound to the supremacy of groups or clan or state.

Mankind and Civilization

With the dawn of civilization, no doubt; mankind in some parts of world did come to enjoy some rights, but authority vested in priest rulers found individual pursuit detrimental to the ruler, the individual could be done away with. No human rights could be defended on ethical grounds. Had it not been so, Socrates would have not been denied his right to pursue the truth and given a cup of poison for his not giving up what the state considered harmful.
