Social Reformers of Pakistan

Pakistan is a new country brought into being by the geological concept of Islam. Islam is a religion which is liberal and some outstanding modern features. The society is based on some social justice. During the British rule, there was an attempt to oppress the Muslim as much as possible. As a result Muslims lost social position, monetary stability and some other difficulties also sopped up due to poverty. The greater influence of the neighboring communities, richer, healthier and politically more 1ong was on the Muslims superstitions and dogmatism raised their ‘ads. The Muslims were a problem during the British rule. When the clarion call came to rise up from deep slumber and the slough of despond, the Muslims became conscious of the great necessity of reforming the society to prepare themselves to be the future citizens of a free country to be built up on their own concept of life. This was a great task to be performed. Pakistan is established no doubt, but the established social conditions have been so bad so long.

When we consider the necessity of social reforms I Pakistan, we cannot forget the role of Sir Syed Ahmed, the great founder of the Aligarh University. He visualized the picture of a society in which the down-trodden Muslims would lead a life of glory. The Maulanas also did their best for the uplift of the society. Only their method was a bit crude and ante-dated. But we cannot forget for contribution warding off the onslaught of the stronger communities. The wrote inspiring poems, the essayists wrote different articles for pointing out the social defects. There were many such reformers of the society. In Pakistan we may remember the writings of Maulana Muhammad Akram Khan, Dr. Muhammad Shahidullah and Begum Shamsun near Mahmoud and others. But the number of social works should he great. We feel the paucity of the social orders in Pakistan We have got a band of soldiers who have taken upon themselves the responsibility of building up Pakistan on sound basis In this sense we may mention the name of Field Marshall Muhammad Aye Khan. Lt General Muhammad Azam Khan. Lt. General Burki, Ltd. general Sheikh and others with them. Democracy on Islamic lines could not develop due to the vested interest of the landlords who won the polls easily by virtue for their hold on the electors. This band of workers as saviors Pakistan has brought on reforms in educational spheres. This band trying to educate the people in giving a check to growing this is really a great social reform aimed at in Pakistan. F planning is necessary in Pakistan to save the families from ruination A great a number of children are born to a family of small mean Their parents are unable to rear up children also. The children grew up in conditions comparable to the conditions of beasts huddled together.

We cannot allow the best creations of God to live in such ignoble conditions. God has created this beautiful world with abundances of food, air and plants and flowers. We cannot allow the children to develop like beasts being deprived of the air and light and glory of the life we cannot allow the seeds of the nations grow o carelessly. For this the family planning scheme is a necessity. But ye should not use the idea in order to enjoy life refusing to take upon us the responsibility of rearing up a family. The real purpose of: he scheme will be defeated thereby. We cannot allow ourselves to be selfish. What after all is the aim of the scheme? The idea is to check the birth-rate in families. Families are to be of a size within: be capacity of the parents.

The social reformers have contributed a lot in formulating schemes for the uplift of the rural areas. Model villages are being developed here there. There is the Village Aid Program also. When we find these programrs we are elated and we become hopeful of the bright future of Pakistan. We cannot sit idle; we need social workers of the right type. We are to be conscious of the social needs. And we must have social reformers of a very great stature about whom if would be possible for us to write gloriously.

In fine, we may say that Pakistanis should be conscious of the social problems. We must have aptitude and attitude different ‘from that of pursuing material prosperity on personal level. We hope or the great days and glorious moments in our national life.
