About - Charles Darwin School

Charles Darwin School is the only secondary school in the Biggin Hill area. The school consists of 1,320 secondary and sixth form students. Currently the head teacher is Mr Sunil Chotai. The school has recently received good with outstanding features in the Ofsted 2008 report. The school has reported a rapidly improving set of GCSE results of 98% 5A*-C grades and 65% A*-C including English and Maths. In 2013, this increased to a record breaking 69% A*-C including English and Maths. 5 pupils achieved at least 10A*-A grades at GCSE and one pupil acheived an outstanding 13 A/A* GCSE grades. A level results for 2013 are: 24% A/A*, 81% A*-C 99% A*-E. The school welcomes pupils from 26 feeder primary schools in the Bromley, Kent, Surrey and Croydon borders and entry into year 7 could be into fast-track top set streams for good level 5 and level 6 primary school pupils. Academic success through entry to university after Sixth form is supported and every year, pupils gain places at Russell Group Universities. The school is also a creative arts college, and is locally renowned for their annual school productions. In December 2009, they put on a production of "Hairspray the Musical!".

Applications for the new Year 7 intake must be made in accordance with Local Authority admission arrangements and must be via the Common Application Form provided and administered by the Local Authority. The School will comply with the locally agreed application procedures and timetables.
