  1. Department of Explosives is an attached department with the Federal Ministry of Industries, which implements the enactments on the subject and policies of the government. It is a technical-cum-administrative department and its main objective is to ensure and enhance the public safety within the licensed premises. Established in 1884.
  2. Department of Explosives administered Two Acts, namely Explosives Act, 1884, and Petroleum Act, 1934. Whereas, under Explosives Act, 1884, Explosives Rules, 2010 has been formulated for safe handling, storage, usage, manufacture, transportation, importation and exportation of Explosives Material. Under Petroleum Act, 1934 three rules namely Petroleum Rules 1937, Carbide of Calcium Rules, 1937 and Mineral and Industrial Gases Safety Rules, 2010 has been formulated for the safe storage, transportation, importation and exportation of Petroleum Products, Carbide of Calcium, Pressure Vessels and Cylinders etc.
